Abstract

The risk of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) increases with tissue damage in the foot due to neuropathy, ischemia, or infection. DFU prevention through early diabetic ulcer detection with digital innovation. The aim of this research is to classify digital instrument innovations used in prevention of diabetic ulcer. Scoping review study design, Scopus database data search, Web of Science, EBSCO CINAHL, Pubmed, ProQuest, with a combination of Boolean words “diabetic foot ulcer” OR “diabetes mellitus” AND “prevention” AND “method” OR “Device” AND “Technology” articles released between 2020-2025. We filtered articles that talk about smart technology usages in the prevention of diabetic ulcers. Among smart technology usages in the prevention of diabetic ulcers, articles used in our research, there are 25 of them. All articles used has Joanna Briggs Institute assessment score above 75%, which shows their eligibility. The instrument classification used in this research are smart socks, smart insoles, medical applications, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. There are digital innovations developed to help electrophysical therapy and vibration therapy that improve blood flow and increases sensitivity of diabetes mellitus patients’ feet.
